View my voki here!
Voki Writing Prompt
Jordan B
8/12/16
Have you ever wondered if you can make an avatar of yourself that talks? Well with the online website voki, you can create and design a person that looks just like you, or you can make it funny like an animal! The steps are simple and the end product is awesome.
The first thing you will do when you get onto voki is select an avatar. There are many varieties of choices. Once you have made your choice on the figure you want to represent you, you get to customize your avatar. This is entertaining, because you get to take your personality as an individual and make it into a human/animal like icon. Customizing it is also fun, because you can give it a taste of your style by putting clothes on it, you can give it a makeover by even putting makeup on your voki (change hair color, eyes).
The third step you will take is adding a voice to your voki! First you will type about yourself in the box provided underneath add a voice. Once you finish typing, you can then create its own voice ranging from man to woman, and different categories of languages like American, German, French, even Norwegian. You will want to her your voki talk, maybe tweak a few words. Then the add a voice section is complete. Next, you will add a background behind your personally customized individual. You can make it look cartoon like (animated) or you can go the complete opposite and make the background be one of the categories travel, school, city views etc. That is your final step to customizing your voki.
The last and most important step to saving your voki is, publishing and sharing. This will allow your peers, friends, etc. to see this video. Then you can take that link and put it on a website like I did. Once we were completely finished we got to view our classmates vokis.
Making the vokis let you completely express your personality. You also get to learn about your classmates through this website. It was overall a fun experiment that helped us to get to know each other. -Jordan B

Here is my tagxedo word picture!

Tagxedo Writing Prompt
Jordan B
8/15/16
In graphic arts we created a tagxedo. Tagxedo is a free website that takes descriptive words about you and makes it into a word cloud. You start by taking a personality test on 16personalities.com that gives you a detailed description about your relationships, how you work etc. Once you read the paragraph that most likely describes you will jot down 30 words that you feel relate and accurately describe you. Next is the picture part, you will need a camera and a neutral background. You will have someone take a picture of you, then you will need to upload that picture to your computer. After you have you picture uploaded you go to tagxedo and insert the picture. Lastly the most important part is to type all of your words into the word box and click submit. You also can create different color themes, different types of texts, and things that make your tagxedo unique.
When choosing words that describe you make sure you pick out words that are extraordinary, don’t choose words that your friends chose. Some of the words I used to label me were bright, active, and high-maintenance. Calling myself bright means I like to be in a positive mood, I like to be bubbly and happy. The descriptive word active for me means, I am always ready to engage in physical activity especially including volleyball and conditioning/working out. I love being fit and staying active, in fact I want to get a scholarship to volleyball in college one day. I also am very high-maintenance I like to keep everything in good condition, and I demand a lot of attention. For instance, I love shopping, iam picky about certain foods, and I like things to go my way. These words are the words that I used to precisely describe my character.
This portrait is definitely not traditional it is one remarkable picture. I liked making this tagxedo because it let me express myself through words. Although the picture was expressed through words, it still provided a vague image of me. I think this is a fun activity, this is fun because you can personalize your work in any way and there are many ways to present it. -Jordan B

Here is my colorwheel!
Color Wheel Writing Prompt
Jordan B
8/16/16
The color wheel I created in class is a unique way to present the colors in the color wheel. You take images from online that are the colors of the color wheel and insert them on PowerPoint to make your own. The color wheel builds off of certain colors. For instance, red, blue, and yellow are primary colors. You can not mix any colors to make these colors, but all other colors are made from these colors. Secondary colors, which include the primary colors plus green, orange and purple, are formed by mixing primary colors. Then lastly the tertiary colors consist of, yellow-orange, red-orange, red-purple, blue-purple, blue-green & yellow-green, they are formed by mixing the primary and secondary colors.
The first color wheel was developed by Sir Isaac Newton in 1666. Since then, artists have elaborated different variations of the color wheel. Scientists/artist have different concept understandings on the color wheel and that is why there are many different forms of it. The colors help engage and entrain the viewers using their visual. The color wheel gave us more varieties and options to choose from, it gave us a more complex version of colors.
The color wheel was a great invention made by Newton. It helped us realize the importance of colors to this world. To me it is visually interesting and entertaining. The color wheel which has many different terms to describe it. It has a great big group of multiplex colors that relate in similar ways and in others completely opposite.

Here is my graffiti wall!

Graffiti Writing Prompt
Jordan B
8/25/16
Graffiti is a way for people to express themselves through art. Graffiti is writing or drawing scribbled on a public wall.People create graphic art to make their mark and leave something permanent for someone to stumble upon.
To create a graffiti wall you first go to postergen.com and choose the white background. Then you will create descriptive words that describe you in any graffiti form you want, you will also create one that is your name. Then on your computer you will download gimp open up bin then gimp-2.8. Next you can insert a brick wall, then you will go to layers and click “add layers” and it will insert your name and descriptive words. Then you can change the opacity, which will make it look more transparent (like it’s really on the brick wall). You can also erase the background by selecting the fuzzy select tool, add alpha channel, then erase. You can personalize it to make it yourself.
Some of the words I used to describe myself are athletic, and dedicated. I used the word athletic because I like to be active, and I play volleyball all year round. I choose the word dedicated to describe that I can put my mind to things that I appreciate. Choosing words that describe you is the most important part of this wall because it is the way you leave your mark on the graffiti.

Here is my food face!
Food Face Writing Prompt
Jordan B
9/2/16
Arcimboldi is a talented artist, born in 1527, who made very dissimilar pieces of art considering the people in his time creating art. Arcimboldi’s art resembled human and nature relationships. Every one of his very famous paintings including some of the following fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish, and books, etc. Each piece of his very unique art resembled a vague picture of a face. With patience and practice Arcimboldi perfected this objective.
Different variations of food make up my food face. I challenged myself to use common food item like eggs and fries, and some not so common food items like cotton candy and an eggplant. I put the items together to create a somewhat visually interesting piece of art. This art was more complicated, because you have to find random images of food online, but this is why I enjoyed it.

Here is my David Hockney Mashup!

David Hockney writing prompt
Jordan B.
Looking away, away from the past. The air is thinner on the mountains than where I use to live. Outside, the wind blows, leaves rustle, and birds chirp softly. Where I use to live kids play, people walk, and squirrels go happily about their day. The refreshing smell of fresh linen cotton filled the air, now I can’t make out a scent. The sweet taste of bbq at parties, but now we don’t have time for that. You don’t realize what you really have until things change. But, do things change for the better or for the worse?
I remember that day vividly, the last day before Christmas break. Everybody seems to be excited, either about the Christmas spirit, seeing family over the break, and just the fact that we get a break from school. But I couldn’t find a reason to be excited. Hugging my friend’s goodbye. Tears form in our eyes. The fact that I grew such a strong relationship with them, and now I’m just letting go that easily. Sure I would see them again, but making plans with them to drive all the way across town is hard. I was just withdrawing from the school, but I felt as if I was being withdrawn from the world. I never knew a hug could mean so much until you let go. And in that moment when you let go is the moment when let go of my hope for a future I couldn’t even see a future through my blurry eyes. Next, I had to go home and pack like that would make me feel any better. I had lived my whole life, 13 years, in this house so memories were something I could hold on to.
Boxes, all in my house, boxes I felt as if I symbolized the objects in that box, I was all packed up in a tight space, until somebody decided to open me. I start school two days after new year’s, I’m not ready and I don’t think I will ever be. I want to keep an open mind and be happy because life is to short not to live like it’s your last day. I don’t want to unpack my boxes now that I am in my new house, for why open the past that hurt me. The day I’m dreading comes up so fast, my first day at some school called “mountain gap”. The environment at this school is so different here than at my old school. People crowd me asking all types of questions. The question I hear the most is “do you like it here”. I lie say yes, but really I hate it here. Will I ever adjust?
One year later, new friends, new environment, new attitude. I visit my old friends almost every weekend, I miss them a lot. But, I have lots of new friends now that I hang out with all the time. I’ve learned to adapt to my surroundings. When I came to this new school I never thought I would change, I never thought I would every feel at home. Overtime you just have to change you can’t stay the same forever. I focused too much I what I had to lose than what I had to gain. I learned that “it takes courage to let go of the familiar and embrace the new.” It took a lot to learn to let go, but that is a fear one cannot have don’t be afraid because nothing can be perfect.
I choose to look anyway from the past, like in this picture and focus on my future. But, it doesn’t hurt me look back anymore, it just reminds me of what made me stronger, and how the past has impacted my future. Now I have an open mind, I don’t just judge something right away. In some ways I am glad that I moved it only made me more solid. Of course if I had the choice and the chance I would move back in a heartbeat.

Here is my Social Media Project!
Social Media Writing Prompt
Jordan B
11/28/16
My life started on February 22, 1732, and it would be a good life to remember. My name is George Washington, I lived on my family’s plantation in west Mooreland County, Virginia, but five years later I moved to ferry farm in Fredericksburg Virginia. My mom Mary gave birth to five more children, but unfortunately one died in infancy. When I was only 11 my dad died, so I aided my mom with the plantation responsibilities often. I attended private school and finished schooling ate the age of 15. I was always an avid land explorer. I was naturally intrigued the backwoods of Virginia, and exploring all of it traits. Since I found this appealing I became a surveyor, or land measurer. As a result, I worked hard, saved my money, and bought unclaimed land.
As a twenty-two-year-old, I won acknowledgement in the French and Indian War. By the time I was 23, I had become a full colonel and was appointed Commander and Chief of the Virginia Militia. I became known for my written accounts of military situations from recruiting to desertion. I led my troops during the revolutionary war through a long harsh winter. I served as a general and commander-in-chief of the colonial armies during the American Revolution, and later became the first president of the united states. After the American revolution, stronger government was needed, so they made me president of the constitutional convention, in which I helped the constitution get ratified. So, as former leader of the continental army and chairman as the continental congress, I had all the necessary credentials to run for president.
On April 30, 1789 I was elected president, and served for two terms. I was elected directly after the constitution was ratified. At the time, I was elected president there were no established political parties in the united states. I had 69 electoral votes. In 1789, I formalized the holiday by issuing a proclamation designating November 26 as a national day of thanksgiving. On May 30 ,1790 I signed the first copyright act into law. While president I only vetoed two laws, the Apportionment Bill of April 5, 1792 which aimed at providing guidelines for the number of congressional representatives, and a bill aimed at cutting the size and cost of the military. My second inaugural delivered March 4, 1793, clocked in at less than two minutes and was only 135 words in length. As the first president of the united states I accomplished many great things, and set guidelines for the next united states presidents.

Here is my world injustice collage!
A social injustice is an unfair practice throughout the world. A social injustice that we see almost every day is a handicapped or disabled person. Sure, we have parking spaces from them, ramps, special classes they can take to help them recover, but does that mean more people will recognize them and be kind to them as well as treat them like any other normal person? To help acknowledge this society on this specific inequity we should incorporate disabled/ handicapped princesses into Disney movies. This would not only help allow kids and grown-ups of all ages be more open-minded towards this concept but it will also allow handicapped and the disabled to feel special and significant.
Disney has lots of other ethnicities and races of princes/princesses so with their incredible animation features they should be able to accomplish this. Studies have found that children with disabilities are two to three times more likely to be bullied than their non-disabled peers according to Pacer’s National Bully Prevention Center. The world needs a reality check, we are used to seeing Disney movies with villains and heroes who have no flaws and live a textbook perfect life. The more society gets familiar with these disabilities the more people will understand their problems, instead of avoid them. If we include this into Disney movies It will also inspire young disabled children to dream on and live a successful life.
We’ve all seen it before when African Americans, Jews and many others were put out in a movie or TV show, or public speech or even book, just think how uplifted they felt when this happened. It inspired them to go places in life so shouldn’t we be able to have disabled/handicapped feel that heartwarming sensation? This is also a great way to prevent judgement before it begins. This could provide kids with an insecurity about their disability to be inspired and be filled with hope for a lifetime. This is a key to the new beginning, Disney needs to open the door. The next Disney princess should not be a race but rather a disability.
Unfortunately, the only possible problem that we could run into is society thinking that the Disney movie would be mocking handicapped/disabled. Hopefully people will realize this is rather a positive movie about the disabled and people will take this in as a positive message. It should uplift the hearts of many. The world need a clear upbeat example to set a positive connotation around the world. It is a movie that will take lots of thought and talent but it can be done. It can change the lives of many.
This is an opportunity for the world. The more we can help raise self-awareness, the better life can become for many. This is just one of many changes that can be made in the world today. You don’t realize how much of an impact this can make on other people until the action is actually performed. This is a big step we can take and it may be risky, but in the end it will leave many feeling inspired.
