Last week, sixth period graphic arts made a voki. A voki is a free avatar that you can make. You can make them move, talk, and make them look however you want. It isn’t hard to create a voki, and it is very fun.
First, you want to make an account on voki. It works best if you use gmail. After you make an account, you should move your mouse over the slides moving in the middle of the page. In the slides, a button shows that says “try it -it’s free.” Click on that button. After you have done that, a new page should show up with different avatars.
Once you have gotten to the avatar page, you can click around and see what you want. If you click on the tab at the top with the outline of man, it takes you to different tabs of customization. You can click on the “male”, “female”, or “all” tabs for your preference of what you want to see. Above that, you can click on the arrows and find tab you want your avatar to be in. After you have the figure you want your avatar to be – whether it’s a dog, cat, or even a smiley face – you can click on different tabs to customize it. You can click on the outline of the man again, or you can click on the hair, lips, and mustache. You can also click on clothing and bling – the two tabs above the others. Under the picture, you can move the dots around to customize your character’s face. You can also change their hair, lips, skin, and eye color.
After you have finished editing your voki, click done at the bottom of all the different tabs. If you want to add a voice to your voki, go down to the “give it a voice” option, and choose between typing, or talking what you want your voki to say. If you aren’t satisfied with the background, you can click at the tree at the bottom of the page and find the background you want.
Making a Voki is very fun. If you are ever bored and want to do something fun, voki is the thing for you. It is easy to use, and very effective if you’re looking for a laugh. You can choose between many different avatars – you can make a dog green!
Tagxedo art takes digital pictures and turn the shape into words. You don’t have to create an account to make one; all you have to do is select a picture – or add one yourself – and you’re set. There are many different tabs to click on, and one box lets you type in the words you want. You can choose different fonts and colors for your picture, and you can even add an outline if you’re not happy with the shape.
I came up with thirty words that describe me to go onto my tagxedo picture. I chose words like ambitious, because I always strive to get my work done on time. Other words I chose were artistic and logical, because I am very creative and I am a quick thinker.
This assignment was fun and easy. It is a very expressive portrait because we have to come up with words that describe ourselves – no one can help you. It shows who you are as a person, and what you think of yourself. It is fun to converse with friends about what they think, and what they did.
Color wheels are used for many purposes. All artists use them, they are used for finding different colors, and they can be used to change a variety of things in a painting. Anything that has color if used from a color wheel.
All colors are made from the three primary colors, red, yellow, and blue. You can create any color you can think of using these three colors and go from there. You can use many different combinations to create any piece of artwork. For example, if you mix yellow and blue, you get green. Then, you could mix green with another color to get something completely different.
Vincent Van Gogh was a famous artist who used the color wheel. On of Gogh’s most famous paintings was “Café Terrace at Night.” It is very popular and show’s many bright, vibrant colors. Yellow is a color that really stands out in the painting, but it also shows a few colors such as blue, green, and white.
Graffiti is type of art that is usually on walls. People use spray paint, and they make graffiti to express themselves. Graffiti is not always vandalism; some people spray paint property that they own.
To create a graffiti wall, you go to a graffiti creator, and play around with the different fonts and colors the website has. After that, you open Gimp, and add a brick wall as a layer. After you have a brick wall opened, you will upload another file of the graffiti you used, and you can position it to be wherever you want.
I chose the words I did to describe myself because those were some of the words I used on my Tagxedo project. I am adventurous because I like to go hiking in the woods, and I chose creative and artist because I like to draw and create things.
Acrimboldo was an artist who used different objects – specifically food – to make up people’s faces. He chose to make art using food because it was something different and creative, and it was very original because no one had done it. He thought that it was very neat how if we put food in the right places, it could make up a person.
I chose to create my food face using the food I did because I saw that no one was using them. I made squash the hair for the face because most people I saw were using noodles, and I wanted to do something. Half of the food I used seemed very creative and different.
Beth Rhee lived in a town called Sažetak, which is Bosnian for abstract. Everyone in that town had special faces that made them look like a beautiful abstract picture. They might’ve looked normal from afar, but up close you’d notice things weren’t in the exact place they could be. Normal people might’ve thought them to be weird looking – but everyone in Sažetak thought they looked perfectly normal, and that “normal” people looked weird.
Sažetak and its surrounding cities lived in perfect harmony with each other – no matter what they thought of each other. Every year they would schedule a field trip where the grades switched schools for a day. For example, Sažetak’s kindergarten would switch with the ‘normal worlds” kindergarten. It was nearing that time in the year again, and Beth couldn’t have been more excited. Lucky for her, the eighth grade class she was switching with had a new school built – the old one burned down.
When her grade arrived at the new school, everything looked different. Almost like it was a school from Sažetak. Everything seemed out of place in a perfectly normal way. It may have seemed weird to the “normal” people, but everything seemed just perfect to Beth. The posters hanging on the walls looked nearly 3D, popping out at you from different angles and directions. The white-board inside the classroom she’d be learning in had weird looking easers, that looked like they were made for people with six fingers. The chairs were normal, but people in Sažetak had normal chairs, and most other normal things.
When it was time for lunch, the food trays had more than just four spots for food, but they were in smaller slots. Beth didn’t know why they were like this, they had normal food trays that were nothing like this. She was starting to think that this school was trying too hard to be welcome. Although she appreciated the effort, this was getting kind of weird. By the end of the day, Beth was ready to get out. On the bus back, Beth talked with her friend Carl about how everything kept getting weirder and weirder. He agreed that things were kind of hectic, but he didn’t mind that much.
When she got in her mom’s car to go home, Beth’s mother told her that it was perfectly normal that the new school was acting that way. They were trying to transition to a better, less judgmental way of living and learning. The people at Sažetak were always living a peaceful and happy life, and the “normals” were always living very calmly and without judgement. It was a nice way to live.
For my president project, I had George W. Bush. Before his presidency, he was a two-term Republican governor of Texas. He was also a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Business school. He was on the Texas Rangers baseball team and he also worked in the Texas oil industry. Bush narrowly won the presidency against Democrat Al Gore.
George W. Bush became president by defeating Al Gore and his running mate, Joe Lieberman. He won by a margin of 271-266 electoral votes. Although Gore won the popular vote by 48.4 percent, Bush won the electoral vote. This makes the Bush the fourth president to lose the popular vote but win the electoral.
Bush in best known for what he did on September 11,2011. After the terrorist attacks, Bush signed the Patriot Act, which he is also known for. Other interesting facts about George Bush are that he had the highest and lowest approval rating in U.S history. He is also the only president to earn a master’s degree.
There are many types of injustices every day. One topic that that is still going on is that of animal abuse. Any abuse is bad, but animal abuse is something that happens every day and can go from mediocre to extreme. Luckily, police are fining or arresting anyone that does it.
Abuse on dogs is just one of many. Any animal does not deserve to be treated this way. Most of the time, when animals act bad, it is because they were raised poorly, and it is not their fault. There have been many cases of extreme animal abuse, some of which involve starving the animal, or it could go to something more physical, which could involve hitting the animal or doing things even worse. Dogs are not the only animals that are abused, and there have been cases for cats and even horses.
Any injustice such as animal abuse should be stopped and here’s how to stop it. If you know anyone who abuses animals, turn them in! Animal abuse is a type of cruelty that should not be overlooked. Tell the person to stop, and if they don’t, call the police. You will feel better knowing that one more poor animal is saved.
Stop animal abuse! Looking at abused animals is not a pretty sight. Some animals are so skinny that you can see most of the bones in their body, while some might have their mouth taped shut or are bleeding. If you feel terrible just by looking at pictures, then you should have a reason to call the police if someone you know is committing this crime.
Once again, animal abuse is wrong. Hurting animals is something that has been done for a long time, and it is time to stop it. Animals help us cope with things, but hurting them is not the right thing to do. Animals are sweet and caring, and don’t deserve to be treated wrongly. Treat them as you would a person, nicely, and care for them.
(Scene 3)
*START FLASHBACK*
(We set the scene with Hotaru and Myata in a tree-house that they built.)
Hotaru: (POINTS) DO you see that?
Myata: Are those- People?
Hotaru: Shhh,be quiet.
Myata: They look like they’re running from something.
Hotaru: We should see if they need help, should we let them up?
Myata: Lets follow them for a while first, just in case. I’m too young to die.
(Shifts to Satomi and Ayaka running through the woods. You can just make out the outline of a couple of guards)
Satomi: Stop yelling at me Ayaka. I’m running as fast as I can.
*Suddenly the night is lit up and flames are as tall as the ancient trees around them. The flames form a wall between the two girls and the faint outlines of the guards*
Ayaka: Faster. I’ll keep it up as long as I can but you know that isn’t long.
Satomi: You need to run too. Come on please just run with me. I MEAN IT AYAKA!!!!!!!
Ayaka: (Sadly) I can’t run and keep up the fire. Anyways it’s you they want not me.
(Shift back to Hotaru and Myata who are climbing out of the tree-house looking around for the guard. The fire is slowly weakening. They can’t make out any guards.) (Shift to Satomi and Ayaka. The wall of fire is slowly weakening. A girl stand directly in front of it. Another is slowing down farther away from the fire.)
Random Guard: Princess Satomi your parents demand you return to the castle immediately.
Satomi: I REFUSE (She slams her foot down like a toddler) (Suddenly the ground rumbles and cracks appear near the tree)
Ayaka: Satomi run! (The fire abruptly brightens)
Satomi: Whoa… I did not know that I could do that. (Shift to Hotaru and Myata who are standing on the edge of the trees a few feet away from Satomi.)
Hotaru: Well you see something new everyday, don't you Myata.
Myata: You could say that again.
Hotaru: I thought we were the only ones with powers like this.
Myata: I didn't know either.I guess we could help them now, as long as she doesn't attack us. HEY YOU OVER THERE! DO YOU NEED ANY HELP? (Ayaka and Satomi quickly turn their heads to see two girls their age running towards them)
Hotaru: No wait You could get hurt.
Myata: Doesn't seem that bad to me. (She says with a smirk as she jumps into the air and moves her arms in a vortex like movement knocking multiple guards down and injuring several. Then swiftly landing on the ground.)
Satomi: Isn't any better than my move. Hotaru: You have a LOT more to learn,rookies.
Ayaka : Rookies???(angered) I don't know who you’re looking at old lady. (Ayaka’s flames start to burn brighter by the second, engulfing her targets)
Hotaru: Who are you calling old? We look the same age!
Myata: Hey watch out Hotaru!!!! Hotaru: Got it. (Hotaru uses her water from thin air to wipe out her close target) (Guards flee)
Hotaru: Now that that is taken care of… Who are you guys?
Myata: Yeah. Who are you guys and why were are you attacking castle guards? Do you have a death wish?
Satomi: I am Satomi daughter of King Akuma and Queen Michi.
Ayaka: And I’m Ayaka her personal guard well previous personal guard. That means I was raised to protect her.
Myata: Oh… What are you doing here then? Don’t you have a castle to live in?
Satomi: Yeah well my parents are massive jerks so I ran away with Ayaka.
Ayaka: That isn’t the only reason, but thanks for trying to protect me Satomi. My parents and Satomi’s parents found out I can wield fire. So they kicked me out. Not the Queen and King but my own parents.
Satomi: But my parents are still jerks and approved that Ayaka would be kicked out so I left with her
Ayaka: Enough about us, Why are YOU out here in the middle of the forest?
Myata: My parents died. We could control air but the King and Queen found out and killed them. Basically your parents killed mine. (glares at Satomi)
Hotaru: My father was executed because he wielded water powers, my mother was recently arrested because they found out I had water powers. (looks towards ground)
Satomi: Oh…
Ayaka: I’m sorry and here I am complaining about my parents.
Satomi: But can you help us please. We need somewhere to stay until we can figure out a way to take over the monarchy.
Hotaru: Wait what.
Ayaka: Yeah. So will you help us?
Hotaru & Myata: Yeah why not.
(END OF FLASHBACK)
